I wanted to extend a sincere thank you for your video on how to replace the e46 stereo on/off button. At first I was intimidated by the extensive disassembly and all the tiny screws, but I watched the entire video, ordered the part, bought a #1 screwdriver (and a trim removal tool), and finally got to work on it. I would not have ventured to do the repair myself had it not been for your excellent video. So thank you, thank you, thank you! I took plenty of photos and a couple short videos of the reassembled and fixed face plate and stereo. Your time, effort, and willingness to make this video has been greatly appreciated! May your business be extremely successful!

My radio volume know was inop when I bought the car, but I could adjust volume on the steering wheel. Then after 6 months the radio stopped working completely. I ordered this part on Saturday and it arrived on Monday. Thanks to the GREAT online video, I took my radio apart (the original volume knob was in about 10 pieces) and I replaced it with the new part. The radio now works perfectly!
I could not be more satisfied!!! -

My radio knob broke, and I was dreading the prospect of opening it up and super-gluing the pieces back together, so I was thrilled to find this replacement part. The video was extremely helpful, and it really did only take about 20 minutes for the repair.
I second Tomas's advice: using a magnetic screwdriver (or just slap a magnet onto your existing non-magnetic screwdriver) will make your life a lot easier. And make sure you use the right size, and sufficient pressure, to avoid stripping the screws. -

This is the perfect part, coupled with the perfect video detailing the process for replacement. Do not waste time or money attempting anything else to fix this problem. Buy this part and follow the instructions. Shipping was also very fast. Overall I could not be more satisfied with my experience with BavTek Inc.

The Exact Fix

If you have an E46 BMW Business CD radio that has a loose on/off knob that will not adjust the volume correctly or turn the radio on/off, then this is the EXACT part you need. It is NOT a workaround.
Note: I found that one of the screws on my radio was stripped, and I didn't have the right tools to remove it. So I ended up sending my radio to BavTek. They have been more than helpful. If you do not have stripped screws on your radio, then it's an easy DIY. Just follow their video. -

Worked like a charm…some of the radios are slightly different but not too hard to figure out. Take pictures if you are not very good at remembering the process. The top screws that hold metal casing are really hard to get off (at least mine were--I accidentally stripped on but had a small screw extractor set -- Orchard Hardware has one for $20 and worked to get screw out). I would recommend a magnetic cup to keep screws in. I ended up with a few extra screws but it still worked perfectly. This is a great product that fixes an issue that was a problem. Nice work by GAR.
